If we were having coffees, we’d be outside to enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
Doors Open Milwaukee

Sunday I returned to Day 2 of Doors Open Milwaukee. I started the day at mass at a beautiful little church Old St. Mary’s.

Afterwards I saw the Grain Exchange Room.

Then I visited a 19th century home. They tore it down and built a double mansion so the 2 brothers could live on one side while the sister lived on the other. Now it’s been restored as a boutique hotel.

Next I visited Orlandini Studios where they create plaster art for theaters, churches, elegant homes.

Across the street from the studio was the Great Lakes Distillery.

Time for my volunteer shift at Retrospek when they bring vintage electronics back to life. The couple who own it started by buying old Polaroid cameras at Goodwill or from eBay to get the film to sell. They moved on to camera repair and now they have 43 employees and repair and sell Polaroids, Walkman, record players, etc. They also will get your film developed in a jiffy.

I had time at the end of the afternoon to visit the Model Railroad Club of Milwaukee.

They’re open to the public the last Sunday of every month.

I rushed to visit a couple churches before Doors Open Milwaukee ended.

Doors Open Milwaukee is now annual event for me. I just scratched the surface.
