Two brothers this week so I went looking for photos of siblings from long ago.
The Conference Between the Brothers How to Get Rich. United States, 1777. [London: Publish’d by W. Williams Fleet Street, as the Act directs] Photograph. https://www.loc.gov/item/2004673330/.
The brothers above are harmless compared with the brothers above.
You can see the resemblance.

A great selection of photos for this week’s prompt. I particularly love the last one, which captures brothers as they leave childhood and take on adult responsibilities.

Perfect pix to match the prompt! I wonder what uniform John Clem is wearing? He looks so young. Hopefully it’s a school uniform?

I like the last photo which has such great clarity. The older brother still seems very young to be in uniform. The first cartoon was interesting to me because I read a book last year about the Revolutionary war and it featured the two men in the cartoon, Admiral Richard Howe and General William Howe, who were a remarkable in their command of the British army and navy in the war. Many Americans did believe that they conspired to prolong the war for their own personal profit, but in fact it was more that King George’s delusions and stubbornness refused to allow any compromise. The book is The Men Who Lost America by Andrew Jackson O’Shaughnessy. I highly recommend it.

I’ll add that book to my reading list. To really understand the past we have to dig deeper than our lessons in school.

The second photograph is perhaps an idealistic view of brotherhood but it made me smile; and the final photo is of excellent quality and clarity of two brothers on the cusp of adulthood.

Brothers, likes sisters, have their ups and downs.
